2006

greetings one and all!

it is, as i say every year this time of year, that time of year again - CHRISTMAS. admittedly im probably not going to win many awards for pointing that festive fact out but it sure is a classic line to set the mood.

now then, straight into the meat on this emailed plate of christmas dinner. i think after 4 successive years of writing christmas negativity perhaps i need to lighten up? well, yes and no - lets see the arguments.

reasons for lighting up the Sanderson xmas tree:

a) i didn't realise christmas was 'on its way' until mid november which was much more acceptable than last year's early october.

b) i've found a new respect for home-made mulled wine and been drunk on it numerous times already.

c) fairy light's on/off/glow programming is getting more technical and the 'cool' ice-blue LEDs are fast becoming a xmas standard.

reasons for NOT lighting up the Sanderson xmas tree:

a) the weather. its been far too mild until the last couple of days to be even remotely christmasy, if the scientists are to be believed its our fault, SO STOP YA GLOBAL WARMING! (eg, turn off christmas tree lights - hmmm).

b) ever lower quality wrapping paper. how thin can they make this stuff?! i know nanotechnology is taking off - but c'mon its a joke!

c) real xmas trees that don't drop their needles - THIS IS A LIE (and man are they sharp).

its a tough call, it really is, but I AM switching on the lights in 2006! overall its been a good year for me, so here i am to give a little back...

so its not quite buying 'real' cards or decorating my desk with tinsel just yet, but who knows? maybe 2007 i'll make another small snowy step from the depressing anti-xmas wastelands in which im lost, towards becoming one of Santa's cozy-grotto-living Elfs.

i wish you all a very merry christmas.

ps - tesco and sainsburys do great pre-made mulled wine if you can't be bothered to brew it yourself, highly recommended.
